Robert was generally well liked by his fellow anchormen, but there was something about his interactions with them lately that worried him. When they all sat together in the Pink Room, where they passed the time when they weren’t On Air, everyone was chatty and genial, but there was a chilliness in the air that he couldn’t ignore. He found himself playing their conversations back in his head, wincing at everything he said and expression he made. He didn’t know if they hated him, but when he saw himself through their eyes, he hated himself, which was almost as bad.
